Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a form of therapy that was originally developed to treat patients with Borderline Personality Disorder. DBT integrates principles of CBT with concepts of mindfulness drawn from Buddhist meditation. DBT has since been extended to the treatment of other many other conditions such as chemical dependency, self-injury, depression, bipolar disorder, and trauma. DBT is practiced by mental health professionals who have received advanced training in this form of therapy.
