An article in eLIFE reports a study suggesting that dysregulated ultradian rhythms (4 hour cycles during the day) may be related to the activation of symptoms in people with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia.  By stabilizing daily activities over 4 hour intervals, such as routine eating and sleeping times, ultradian rhythm oscillators may be better regulated in patients vulnerable to mental illness.  To read this article in its entirety, click here.
