Partial Hospitalization Program

Our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) combines a daily group therapy program with weekly medication management sessions by our staff psychiatrist. The PHP program is designed to help you to manage your psychiatric and/or chemical dependency symptoms in order to:

  • Help you cope with serious or disabling symptoms related to an acute mental health condition.
  • Cope with impairments in multiple areas of your daily life functioning.
  • Avoid hospitalization or help stabilize your condition post-hospitalization.
  • Prevent a psychiatric and/or drug or alcohol relapse.

The PHP program meets from 9:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. You can attend 4 or 5 days a week. The goal of the PHP is to help you cope with significant impairment in your day-to-day functioning, gain adaptive skills of independent living, and prevent a deterioration in your condition. The PHP offers mental health, dual diagnosis, and substance abuse tracks. The Arroyos PHP is a State Certified Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facility (Certification Number 190870AP). The PHP is ideal for patients who would benefit from attending an all-day morning treatment program 4 to 5 days a week while living in a transitional/sober environment, with their family, or in their own apartment or residence. The PHP is right for you if your psychiatric or chemical dependency symptoms are serious or disabling in severity and you are having difficulties in many areas of your daily life such as organizational skills, workplace or academic readiness, interpersonal skills, management of personal finances, and/or health living skills. The PHP includes a weekly visit with our staff psychiatrist to help you get your medications stabilized.

We strongly support an abstinence model for the treatment of substance use disorders. We require a commitment to abstinence for any patient attending our PHP and conduct drug and alcohol testing routinely. As health care professionals, we view the treatment of substance use disorders similarly to that of any other mental disorder. As such, our chemical dependency program is not 12-step based. Instead our evidence-based program incorporates cognitive behavior therapy, rational-emotive behavior therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy in our group programs. We also include psychoeducation, psychotherapy, and new advances in psychopharmacology. We strongly encourage our patients to participate in community abstinence-based support networks and provide but we do not endorse any specific program.
