Treatment for Psychological Complications of Diabetes is a specialized form of clinical health psychology treatment for patients who are suffering from diabetes. Issues addressed include psychological factors contributing to nonadherence to the diabetes regimen, emotional complications from diabetes such as depression, stress, eating disorders, and anger, improving pro-diabetic coping skills such as healthy eating, exercise, and smoking cessation. Psychoeducation with the patient and family members is often a component of the treatment of psychological complications of diabetes.
