According to an article in The Bella Vita, many people with eating disorders contemplate suicide yet the actual numbers are very difficult to pinpoint due to underreporting. It is estimated that half of all people with eating disorders will meet the criteria for depression at some point, but most will not be diagnosed with the condition. Women with eating disorders are significantly more likely to attempt suicide then men.
